Daycare

    Our program at Learning & Fun Daycare provides childcare services to children ages 2-5.  We offer full-time, part-time and after school program with flexible enrollment for 2,3,4 or 5 days per week. Early drop off and late pick up are available to meet our parent’s needs.  Our year round program lasts from September to August. We are conveniently located in the St. George Academy building in the heart of the East Village, close to many parks, and public transportation. We have private access to our own large terrace for free play, structured games,  sports, and the appreciation of nature through gardening.

    With a balanced and creative curriculum, we provide a variety of learning and enrichment classes. While addressing early skills, education and culture, our compassionate educators ensure that your child receives the very best care.

     We practice Jean Piaget theories and believe that children learn best through play and activities which are thoughtfully structured by experienced teachers. Through group play, children learn the vital skills of recognizing and understanding, they assimilate and accommodate, to take into account the characteristics of the new experience.

      Our daily routine program includes circle time, art, storytelling, seasonal crafts, songs, free play and, of course, practical skills  such as cleaning, snack preparation , naptime as our classroom is intended to be as comforting as at home. We encourage the use of toys made from simple and natural materials for children to reinforce children’s imagination and connection with nature. Children are offered many opportunities to experiment with different shape-changing media, including sand, water, clay, play dough. Our Math and Science class teacher will introduce concreate experiences before abstract concepts. In addition we will incorporate the imaginary world of storytelling, as well as an introduction to sports such as tennis and soccer, where children will work on coordination, balance, movement, and communication.
